CHEF KENDALL MITCHELL

Born in Michigan, Chef K developed a love for food early on. Though it was

not entirely evident in his early years,

his closeness to his family’s food traditions, would later prove to be the secret ingredient to his success as a chef.

​

From the heart of the Midwest to the gorgeous desert landscapes of America’s West Coast, Chef K has been changing food ‘one palate at a time’ for nearly 12 years.

After graduating from Arizona Culinary Institute (Scottsdale, AZ) in the summer of 2004, Chef K started his culinary journey as more than just a ‘foodie’, but as a Chef. Transitioning from Arizona to Nevada, he worked in a few well known Italian and French Bistro kitchens. It was through these experiences that he developed a flare for technique and his sensibility for fresh, flavorful, well-prepared foods.

In 2006, Chef K ventured to help a neighbor understand a new diet recommended by a doctor. The neighbor won his bout against Fibromyalgia and ultimately regained health. This allowed Chef K to see the connection between health and well-being and the foods he prepared and served. This revelation led him to start Trugourmand - a personal chef and catering service whose cuisine has always included fresh, seasonal ingredients and local products. The service provides custom menus, considering the tastes and needs of the client first.

In 2011, Chef K relocated to Michigan where he renewed his enthusiasm for ‘farm fresh’, local cuisine. In an effort to help local farmers and artisan producers, he works with area farmers’ markets to increase consumer awareness. His goal - to bring locally sourced, seasonal ingredients back to our community’s dinner tables. Just ask around; I guarantee you’ll find Chef K cooking or shopping at a Farmers’ Market near you.

* Present day, Chef K is Chef and Owner of Trugourmand – Personal Chef and Private Catering Service and is creator of sweetBred Gourmet Shortbread and More, a local gem that boasts some of the most delicious cookies, quick breads, cakes and pies you’ll ever sample. Chef K is also a recognized Recipe Developer/ Tester for a major publishing firm and is the feature Chef at Shelby’s Outdoor Farmers’ Market in Shelby Township, MI.
